video.indy is currently hosted on bolobolo which has enough power and
diskspace. the problem is bandwitdh. therefor downloads are disabled.
currently for the whole bolobolo there is 1mbit reserved which isn't
(yet) really used, as there isn't much to download. however if downloads
would get enabled it would rise very quickly.
This fact is also stated on the site.
video.indy had the luck that was hosted on ahimsa which had a 100mbit
line. and according to occam (irc log) the bandwith usage was about 1TB,
which is around 7Mbit/s (just hand multiply with pi, correct me if i'm
completly wrong)
So the question with all that getting video.indy back online (with the
old or a new cms) is mainly the question who can offer around 10Mbit/s a
Month 95 per centile unlimited to download the videos. And this will
even increase if there is a better CMS which might offer IndyTube like
videos or so.
For sure this bandwitdh could also be organised on bolobolo, however
then the people hosting bolobolo need certainly some money to pay the
additional bandwidth. And they are certainly willing to organise this.
But what lacks is a fix and ensured money incom to get the bandwidth payed.
However as many people are proposing static content. The site could
easily still be hosted on bolobolo (or even several servers) and the
videos could be hosted on a special server with a good connectivity.
So imho the main focus should be to organise a place with good
connectivity. Diskspace and power is cheap, bandwitdh not always
(depending on your position).
Would be nice if anybody could that sort out, so video.indy can get back
up online. thanks!
greets ng
