Hi Mair and all

Do get back to this group if someone else needs to take on the work on
the mission statement - Rob's offered to have a look at it and do some
work on it.

Can I take it that people are happy to go with the editorial guidelines
as they stand?

Re. your suggestion (and generous offer) to pay someone to translate the
editorial guidelines etc., Mair, I'm not sure how I feel about that and
how it fits in with the indymedia ethos. As far as I'm aware, everyone
in indymedia gives their labour for free, whatever skills they have and
whatever tasks they take on.

If we did pay someone to translate the static pages (which is things
like the editorial guidelines, mission statement, about us, the publish
page, the website headings etc.), we still need people in the
cymru-imc-wales collective who will help look after the newswire by
checking any Welsh language posts and maybe adding brief translated
summaries of any important news stories. A bilingual site won't be
possible without these people, whether or not we get the static pages
translated. However, maybe we would get more volunteers once there's a
cymru-imc-wales page up and running...

What do other people think?

What about holding collective meetings in Aberystwyth and South Wales as
previously suggested? Maybe that would get a few more people on board.
I'd be happy to go along to these to discuss what's been done so far
and what we need to do next.

I'll copy this message to the imc process list for comments too.

Cheers

Genny

Hia Genny . .

Good work on the editorial guidelines .. .you and Rob.
Ive looked through it. . .and it looks good.

I took on the job at the Wrexham meeting on co ordinating some work on the
Mission Statement although i had also explained that my ability to take on
new stuff at the moment was limited so i shouldn't have really!!

Never mind, im sorry that this piece of work is at a little impasse!

If i recall it was Maurice and Bob who were the other volunteers
Maurice, sent something he'd worked upon preety quickly
after the Wrexham meeting. I then e mailed Maurice and Bob to ask about how
we could develop the job .
. and then im afraid ive been off the radar as regards this initiative and
from what i recall,so has the other two!. . .
We are all busy people eh?

Ill e mail again what Maurice produced ( diolch maurice) and then if the
three of us can e mail one another to decide if we are still able to do it,
OR if not, we can
come back to the list. Any comments? Im open to any other
suggestions about moving it on ?

I understand that you want this to be moved forward Genny

Mair

ps at the wrexham meeting, it was mentioned about an IMC alterntives. .
. . ive subsribed to the developing list and have been unfortunatly as
quiet there as ive been here . . unavoidable for me at the moment im
afraid!
. . but it's coming on which is great!!

pss as im not able to help a lot more at the moment Genny,
id be happy to find out how much it would cost to translate the editorial
guidelines . . i know we haven't got any money but if it's not extortionate
id be happy for this time to meet the one off cost . . i have a few contacts
. that might do it cheaper for me . . .
