[Imc-wales] notes from big green gathering

Ah, sorry, missed that first look through...

Well, the uk guidelines are - under reasons why a post may be hidden -

"Discrimination : posts using language, imagery, or other forms of
communication promoting racism, fascism, xenophobia, sexism, homophobia
or any other form of discrimination."

I think we borrowed the proposed wording from Nottingham's ed. guidelines:

"5.Use language, imagery or other forms of communication that promote
bigotry and/or hatred based upon gender, ethnicity, race, sexual
orientation, religion, class, age, physical or developmental ability, or
national origin."

Our proposed wording was:

"· Discriminatory posts: posts which use language, imagery or any other
form of communication which promotes bigotry and/or hatred based on
gender, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, religion, class, age,
physical or developmental ability, health, or national origin."

Anyone want to propose a rewording, given that some of us can't find it
in our hearts to love the rich? :o)

My argument with using the uk wording is too many 'isms'.

We could just remove the reference to class altogether from our proposed
wording (as suggested) but do we then need some catch-all 'or any other
form of discrimination' wording to make clear that it's not ok for the
rich to promote hatred of the working classes? Add an 'etc.'? Or we
could remove the bit about hatred, which would still outlaw
discriminatory posts which promote bigotry based on class.

And, once we've sorted this bit out, is everyone happy for the ed
guidelines and vision statement to go for translation?

Cheers

Genny

My suggested rewording:

"Discriminatory posts: posts which use language, imagery or any other
form of communication which promotes bigotry based on gender, ethnicity,
race, sexual orientation, religion, class, age, physical or
developmental ability, health, or national origin."
