[Imc-wales] Imc-Wales south gathering

Hi Kelvin, Gwent anarchists et al.

I don't think we necessarily have to make this a full weekend of
meetings. I'd be happy with a meeting Sat afternoon for a couple of
hours or so, and some hands on "using indymedia" training later on for
anyone who wants this if we can get access to computers and internet.
But I might still need to stay Fri/Sat nights because of transport
issues (no cheap trains at other times and possibly none at all if I
don't book soon!).

I think the Welsh language issue is crucial. I can't remember at what
point you had to leave the meeting in Wrexham Kelvin, but there was a
strong feeling that it was important to have a bilingual site from the
outset and the meeting made the decision that this is what should
happen. If this decision is going to be changed given the lack of
Welsh-speakers involved, then I guess the proposal needs to go on this
list first and then be discussed at the meeting. Personally, I am not
in favour of launching a Wales site just in English, even if it is only
temporarily, although I agree it's frustrating that we seem to be stuck
on this at the moment.

Mair suggested a while back that we should pay someone to do the
necessary translation of the static pages, but even if the meeting
decides to do this, then we will still need Welsh moderators. Hywel has
sent a message to the group today to say that he can help with this, so
that's good.

The agenda will be what any of us decides to put on it, I guess.

I would like to talk about what's been done so far, what still needs to
be done... and how we're going to do it.

I'd also like a bit of time to discuss an "alternative media for Wales"
workshop at the Big Green Gathering which has been proposed as follows:
"a session for people from wales to talk about an online collaborative
grassroots media project for wales. Gwent anarchists will be there,
perhaps they would be interested in helping with that." Sounds like a
good idea to me as it may bring in more people to the project, which we
definitely need. Are you up for helping facilitate that, GA?

Cheers

Genny
