[Imc-wales] Network gathering in October

Hi everyone

I'm writing to suggest that some of us from Wales try to get to the uk indymedia network gathering in Leeds on 25-26 October to look at ways to get our page for Wales up and running as proposed at the last network meeting (see previous emails on this subject).

This is a proposal for a gathering  - this is to be confirmed by the venue (now confirmed) and it would be good to check for clashes as well. 

25/26th October - Leeds

The gathering is a joint one - basically I didn't get support from anyone in the Indymedia network to help put it together, but got some support from other people that have been part of the wider network. 

I would suggest that if Indy UK people think that there are 2 days worth of issues to discuss that they start organising a follow up to this gathering. Or make a separate proposal for a gathering. 
 
But I really think that this way of collaborating and widening the network will hopefully be productive. It certainly was at the climate camp where loads of new people got trained how to do Indymedia dispatch type work. It was great to see the network growing rather than getting smaller. I guess the same hope is here too.

Hi there, 

I've created a page here for the proposed gathering. 

I've had a chat with people in Leeds. We can't do film screenings at the venue, but apart from that - it's totally good to use. 

Leeds is full of activists as well so we'll be able to find crash space for as many people as needed. And there is an overflow place we can sleep quite a few people as well. 

So great - it's there if we want it!

I would be very happy if other people more active in the UK network, would input into the process of organising it. 

All feedback is welcome. Let's get some dialogue going on this list before hand as well. That sometimes really helps focus the issues. 

Maybe it would be good to have an IRC meeting one evening this month to help create an agenda for the weekend. 

The general idea is to get Indymedia core things sorted on Saturday and then be able to have workshop sessions on the Sunday.
