>> I'm emailing to also tell you about a Film SCrEening HaPPening on Thursday
April 3rd at 'The Film Archives' not sure exact time when it starts but you
could ring them up maybe or pop in and ask.
Called 'LandScapisM' , it is a presentation of four films (with speech from the
filmmaker). The Filmmaker is Martin RUmSBy and he is a social revolutionary
filmmaker that makes films that explore the banaal,Transience,Urban Collision
and morass, Social Exclusion,Social Revolution and the 'beauty of the seer'.
He's been making films/videos since early 80s. I know him a bit, he is a 'local'
Hamilton Human, though he has lived all over NZVille and overseas. He told me he
spends most of his time 'kicking against the pricks' in the NZ film world who
are suspicious of him and his films/approach.
I think he is best perceived as some sort of a Situationist Filmmaker who see's
art/film as an adjunct to some form of Social Revolutionary Social Based society.
>One of his films is particularly good and was made in the U.S and is a film
collage type film--an exploration of urban decay,Randomic cityscapes , city
atmosphere comment on the potential loneliness of citys. <<
