OOPS - the website address is http://wmass.indymedia.org. Didn't update one of my addressbooks. Also, I noticed you're in New Salem, out of our radio range, so that might not work as well. (Although you are local our signal won't make it much past Leverett in your direction, but most importantly, for now there'd be more work you'd have to do here in Northampton - lots of planning meetings. )
 
But if you're interested in publishing independent journalism online (and we do need more, especially on local/regional activism and issues, or in helping with monitoring the website, you can of course do that from anywhere. We tend to meet either in Amherst or Greenfield and only meet once monthly as a rule; we'd love to meet you.

Thank you for signing up! As a writer and as a person with some radio experience you'd be able to make journalistic/programming contributions to a couple of local independent media efforts: Western Mass Indymedia, which is now focussed around its website, http://wmassimc.org, and Valley Free Radio, a startup volunteer community radio station in its initial planning stages.
 
There are a couple of basic ways you can get involved with Wmass Indymedia.  You can come to meetings (next one Sept 11 at 11 at Jones Library in Amherst; wear black) and discuss/plan ways of maintaining and improving the website and working on outreach, and you can write articles and/or post links to others' independent press articles on the website. Preferably both! You are also welcome to participate in the online discussion list - address above.
 
This response is on behalf of Wmass Indymedia, but you can write to me about Valley Free Radio too - we need people with any studio experience at all, on the programming committee. (You can also be involved as a writer for programming)
