Here's more or less how we set up the site in Drupal:

Drupal 6 has a nice feature to let the user separate the intro
from the body of the article. We have 2 CCK fields instead--
would be nice to merge them.
I think we just spidered all the old articles and saved the static
pages, then put them in a subdir and setup .htaccess to send
the user to that subdir if the page requested was formatted
like an old page.
