Best of all it's Free thanks to Foundation arts (donations accepted) It's totally worth coming down for. WEST PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania.-Lost Film Fest returns to Philadelphia for a major free event right before the protests at the Republican National Convention in NYC. Lost Film Fest, originating in West Philly is a laugh-a-riot event (heavy emphasis on both “laugh” and “riot) focusing on pranks against major corporations, government institutions, and cultural self defense. If you dig culture jamming, pie fights with cops, riot footage, and hate george w bush with a passion, you'll love the punk rock urgency of the Lost Film Fest and its’ celebration of illegal-art. You’ve seen Fahrenheit 911, now it’s time to check out something that goes to the next level. Thanks to a grant from Foundation Arts, this years event is FREE to the public. (donations accepted).

Originally the festival was to be held earlier this year, but due to family issues the festival was postponed until now. 

Some highlights...Friday the 20th will be an especially amazing night hosted by MIKE MARONNA(Big Pete) from The Adventures of Pete and Pete doing "Pete and Pete Karaoke" (contestants try to do dialog from the show with Mike..if they mess up, they get slimed). Additionally POST PUNK KITCHEN (www.theppk.org), a vegan cooking show from NY will do a live before audience taping, and POPaganda: The Art and Crimes of Ron Englishwill be screened with host Ron English in town for his opening at TIN MAN ALLEY

-the Philly premiere of BUSH FAMILY FORTUNES: The documentary that Fahrenheit 911 is based on by acclaimed journalist Greg Palast (Matt Pascarella will be on hand for Q&A),
-THE TAKE Naomi Klein/Avi Lewis's new doc about the worker-run factory takeovers in Argentina , a special sneak preview of the new guerrilla News Network project (name tba)

-JERICHO’S ECHO: PUNK ROCK IN THE HOLY LAND- A work in progress of San Francisco filmmaker Liz Nord's film about Punk Rock and Activism in Israel
-THE MIAMI MODEL a disturbing film about the militarization of the police in the US, and the crackdown on dissent
-AFROPUNK James Spooners celebrated documentary which explores race identity in the punk scene.
-FOURTH WORLD WAR the newest offering from Big Noise Films
-MOVE a doc about the MOVE organization from Philadelphia w/ Q& A afterwards

-THE CORPORATION (dir. Mark Achbar, Jen Abbott, Joel Bakan) will close the festival on Sunday the 22nd in an outdoor screening across from the Institute for Contemporary Art in West Philly.

Lost Film Fest is a traveling festival of truly independent/ anti-authoritarian/ anticorporate/ grassroots/ DIY media run by Festival Director Scott Beibin(Bloodlink Records) Liz Cole(Evil Twin Booking), and Justin Yeager. When the fest isn’t happening in Phialdelphia, Beibin travels the globe with a videoprojector, dvd player, and backpack. The West Philadelphia based roadshow takes the Miichael Moore shtick to the next level by incorporating a sexy, smash-it up, radical anti-capitalist / anti-globalization perspective. Truly “Too Hot For TV” since 1999, the LFF has featured scathing and hilarious social commentary in the form of narrative shorts, documented pranks, hot amateur protest footage, and re-contextualizations. This jam is about smashing the illusions cast by Hollywood, The Pentagon & FOXnews. Lost Film Fest held 252 shows in 13 countries on its world tour in 2003 traveling around the globe. More than just a film screening, Lost Film Fest is a give and take experience. It feels like a mix of a political comedy routine, a punk rock show, and a DJ set. It’s both film and live entertainment intermeshed, and something to be experienced. A barrage of scathing and hilarious short blasts of social commentary and hot amateur protest footage from around the world appropriately called Riot Porn by the festival organizers, the unique program is 6 days long, features 86 films and never drags for even a second. While Lost Film Fest, sports a strong underground/ guerrilla aesthetic, it regularly appear at theatres and universities, but Its' indigenous environs are that of squats, clubs, warehouses, political convergences, & rooftops.
