Some personal views on what you wrote

I think that the biggest problem the ENR has is outreach. The content is
really interesting and people (at least here in Greece) like it and ask when
the next will be coming. But besides organizing the work in this list and
doing real-world distribution in our cities, we are not informing other
people about the project. For us it was not that easy finding the enr
contact, i remember having seen one post in UK Indymedia, that's how i first
learned of it, and when we wanted to contact enr i searched on google :)

A proposal would be to work more on a website and publicize it more. And
another one, when enr is out, we could post in every european imc that it's
ready and people can screen it. That way more people doing video may contact
enr as well.

Another problem seems to be that there are not enough video groups and
people working with Newsreal. I don't mean sending clips, but also getting
actively involved in the project. Of course it's difficult organizing in so
many different countries, only through internet, but we can work more on
that.

I think that the project is worthwhile even as it is, and we are commited to
participating in it, but it has a lot more potential. We could work on an
outreach campaing, perhaps prepare a feature for global and local indys as
well. And i also think that a real-world meeting of ENR people would be
really useful as well.

Hello Mick, Hello All ENR folks ( = everybody !),

It seems that there now are enough contributions offered to fill the ENR
#15, which is great !

One of the bottlenecks (problems) of making the ENR seems to be the
difficulty to get enough contributions. It is an experience that all the
production groups so far made. Why ?
1. It seems that one of the problems is that people who record material do
not make the time to produce something short for the ENR.
2. Perhaps, people, groups capable of producing a contribution still do not
know about the possibilitie to distribute their (important) work through the
ENR.
3. Production of the ENR is not only putting the contributed clips in an
appropiate order behind each other, ptting some explanatory titles and
sending out the copies to the language groups, but especially to actively
gather these clips - a difficult job, especially when there is a lack of the
contacts with video makers. BUT it must not only be the job of the
production group to ask for contribution !! When everyone of us knows that
there is a problem to get the next ENR filed we can send out some emails and
ask some people we know, and when you know about somebody who filmed
something you can ask if she/he would like to contribute to the ENR.
4. Perhaps more and more people film but they are not able to edit the
material. Training could be an option, a thing Hamish has put forward
several times. But on the other hand, there are often workshops given and
also experienced videogroups do not regulary contribute to the ENR...
5. Perhaps the ENR is not the right / interesting distribution format for
videomakers ?

Another problem is still that the number of regular screeners is not very
big. We do not have exact numbers, but it seems it is not really growing.
Why ?
1. there is no interst to show the product.
2. people do not know the ENR.
We think that it s important to regulary produce an edition in order to give
screeners the possibility to take it up in their regular program.

We hope that there will be a production group for the next ENR ! Mck said
that perhaps he can do it, would be great since he seems to have a lot of
contacts and the experience to produce the ENR !
