SUMMARY: Help the Philadelphia IMC by sending us posters from protests and
other "resistance art" to decorate the walls of our radical media space.

Hello IMC Italy,

This is Jay from the Philadelphia IMC. I’m writing to you to see if anyone
from your IMC may be willing to help with a small project of ours.

A couple years ago the Philly IMC
(<http://www.phillyimc.org/>http://www.phillyimc.org) joined with several
social change organizations to buy a building for use as a community center
for radical media and organizing. The place is called the Lancaster Avenue
Autonomous Zone (LAVA) – <http://www.lavazone.org/>http://www.lavazone.org.
LAVA is currently home to the PhillyIMC, Radio Volta
(<http://www.radiovolta.org/>http://www.radiovolta.org), the Defenestrator
newspaper (<http://www.defenestrator.org/>http://www.defenestrator.org),
ACT-UP (<http://critpath.org/actup/>http://critpath.org/actup/), the LAVA
library
(<http://defenestrator.org/lava/library.htm>http://defenestrator.org/lava/library.htm)
and many other activist projects, as well as a public computer lab and a
great big performance space. We bought it, rather than renting, so the
PhillyIMC and other social change groups could have a permanent home and
can’t be evicted for using the space the way we want to.

Right now we’re just starting to open for events. To celebrate our opening
we are hoping to plaster the walls of LAVA with RESISTANCE ART -- posters
from protests, flyers describing alternative viewpoints, images questioning
the status quo. We will wheat-paste much of this art permanently to the
walls so it will inspire visitors to the space for years to come. We’re
especially interested in getting protest posters and activist flyers from
around the world, in many languages, to remind visitors to LAVA that the
struggle for justice is global!

We’re asking you to spread the word around your activist and social
networks to see if anyone you know may be able to join in our fun.

If you're able to help, you can send your art directly to Jay at LAVA, 4134
Lancaster Avenue, Philadelphia PA, 19104, USA. Or, please contact me at
"idiot at jaysand.com" for details. Sorry, we won't be able to return any
donated art. But, you're always welcome to come visit it at LAVA. :-)

(Of course, as with any project, we’re also looking for financial donations
(http://www.lavazone.org). So if you don’t have any posters to send, but
have some cash on hand to support a struggling autonomous center, feel free
to send that too . . . we promise we won’t paste it to the walls.)

Thanks for your time and your help, with much love,

Jay
