Imc Italy, after 6 years from its birthday, needs to re-think its way to
be media, and so it needs silence, it needs to resume its way without the
net and having a 360 grades discussion.

Indymedia has born from the streets and the squares, and these one have
found place in the various parts of the site: the newswire, the main
column, the thematic categories, the dossiers. And also the forum and the
mailing-lists.

Indymedia has made everything, keeping its being local/global network and
going back to the streets and the squares to close the circle.

But as time went by, people and istruments have begun to clash between
them. The most emblematic case is the newswire, the free publishing area,
direct and without filters (basilar concepts of open publishing), around
which we've seen continuous controversies about what should be hidden, and
why, expecially in the case of photo and films publication showing faces
or personal data of some people.

Also the mailing-lists have gone in crisis, because of a shortage of
partecipation and/or a sort of a difficulty in the arguments, so that the
finding of the consensus, or of the harmonization between different
positions, has been more and more difficult.

Everything has been always studied and reflected, because of the critical
sense that impose upon us the obligation to re-think everything in every
time. But the noise is deafening, and we all need silence. Only so, we can
listen, observe, estimate and concentrare our own energy on the ideas that
otherwise will risk to remain hidden. Silence is instrumental to obtain
this scope, we need energy and ideas, we are looking to speak together,
starting again from scratch.
