Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,
A brand spankin' new server has arrived. It's destiny is to serve up dynamic
sites in virtual servers. The idea basically:
1) Serve in vservers for "security" so breaks don't spread
2) Serve dynamic sites locally, not using the NFS server
2a) This will take load off the NFS server, which is plenty busy and
2b) Will serve up dynamic sites much more quickly since this new box has
really fucking fast disks (15k rpm).
The server gets physically installed this week, then i'm going to kick it
around for awhile, then start moving over sites.
Since italy is so huge and gets so much traffic, it is an obvious candidate
to be one of the first to move. Mir sites are /not/ being moved (so no
moving germany, brasil, uk, global, etc).
But who from italy do i work with? Anyone? Or should I just swing this on my
own? There are some big files on italy that i don't know what they are for
and I'm kind of curious if they are needed or are just old backups or what.
E.g. italy/website/materiali/salonicco/simon.part05.rar etc...
Anyway, in sum, who should I be talking to about this now? :)
Thanks,
-Jeff
