apologies for not translating this - i would have just cut and pasted into
Babelfish (http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/tr) anyway.

sure that all the important lists stay up.

i think it _might_ be a good idea, on the basis of neatness, to close
lists that are now obsolete and unused, however what would be done with
the archives of those lists and the knowledge that they contain?

once a list has been set-up it does not really cost anything to maintain.
if the list is genuinely unused then there are no bandwidth issues to
consider so the list is only taking up a few MB of storage - why should
the lists be closed?

also, if a list or subject is later revived then it's another job again to
start a new list.

what criteria have been used to come up with the list of 'obsolete'
mailing lists below? imc-audio has 251 members and this month there has
been 34 genuine posts compared to only 20 on imc-communication - perhaps
these are grounds to close imc-communication instead?

will lists be closed if nobody defends them or will genuine efforts be
made to find out if those lists are active and efforts made to contact the
subscribers - i nearly missed this original email due to the amount of
emails i get and i didn't think that anybody was seriously considering
closing imc-audio.
