Hi boud,
most sites use the mod_jk modul which connects tomcat to apache.
There is a description on how to configure apache to use it on RedHat in the
uk-devServer-Wiki: http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Local/UkDevServer#Apache.
mod_jk as a seperate package is awaylable for most distributions.
If you don't get this to work you can also configure apache to act as a proxy
to the tomcat4 on the same machine.
You can find an example here:
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_proxy.html
what distribution are you using ?
greetings
