[New-imc] QUEENS, NY, US (initial response)

Hi Dustin,

My name is Jay and I'm part of the Philadelphia IMC.  I'm also involved 
with the new-imc working group, the global Indymedia working group that 
helps aspiring IMC projects like your own become an "official" part of the 
Indymedia network.  Glad to meet you!

I saw your new-imc form come through the new-imc at indymedia.org working 
group.  That's great.  Sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you. 
:)  From this point forward the goal is to organize, organize, 
organize!  When you think your group may be solid enough to entertain the 
possibility of joining the global indymedia network, check out the new-imc 
documents at "http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Global/NewImcHowTo".  In fact, 
you may want to take a look at them now so you get an overview of where 
you're headed.

I don't know if any of you are part of the NYC-IMC, or if you have been in 
touch with any of them.  If so, that's wonderful.  If not, that should 
really be a next step.  I don't know what sort of commitment they have to 
covering issues in Queens, and what kind of approach you could develop 
together to making sure you're working toward the same goals, rather than 
competing for basic things like collective membership.  Whatever the case, 
they will be a tremendous resource for you in so many ways.  In fact, if 
there's still anyone on this new-imc list from the NYC-IMC, perhaps s/he 
would be intrested in helping you through the new-imc process.  Anyone?  If 
not, and if you find yourself ready to proceed, let me know and I'll do 
what I can.

Let the new-imc working group know if you have any questions as you wind 
your way through forming your IMC and we'll see if we can help.
