Hi,

I'm GroCit from Toulouse.
Dany sent a mail explaining our views about the problem of moderating
(thanks matito for forwarding it).

It was only writen in french, so here is a translation for those who don't
understand french (please excuse us for not having done that before).

Moreover, I'd like to add a few things. At the moment, the column of
newswire has changed. We're testing the way GeneX likes ;-)
It is still under discussion, so it could change in the future.
According to me the previous way was better (that's my opinion). It is not
a discussion between moderation before or after publishing. In the 2 ways,
moderation comes after the publishing. Indeed, the contributions that are
non-moderated are ONLINE.
The fact is they were not directly viewable. You had to click to open the
"Unmoderated box".

To me, this is just a matter of presentation. I don't like the GeneX wants
us to do, because I think it's more difficult to read, it's less clear.
That's all, nothing about moderating.

If the fact of hiding a bit the unmoderated contributions (by closing the
box by default) is bad, I think a good solution would be to open every box
by default. So each type of contribution (unmoderated, moderated and local,
moderated and non-local, and refused) would be directly viewable, but
classified, so that reading would be eased. Personnaly, I'd like this
solution, but we have to discuss it more in the collective.

I feel that most of you think we have a problem whith moderation, that you
want to moderate after publishing. Please understand that we completely
AGREE with that.

Well, thanks for your attention, here is the previous message from Dany :

Hi,
I'm Dany from Toulouse.
I looked at the archives of new-imc and I saw that GeneX started the
discussion about our column of newswire.

http://lists.indymedia.org/pipermail/new-imc/2004-September/0928-pc.html

Two people, libby and bht, seemed to understand that we moderate before
publishing, which they condemn. But I think this is not true, all the
contributions on our web site are viewable (one just has to click once).

Could someone send this message on new-imc and precise that our intention
is to moderate after publishing.

The french message :
