[New-imc] unsubscribing lurkers

i think those wanting to purge need to answer at least two very important
questions:
1) if this list becomes just for those who are active at this immediate
moment, then how do you ever include new people into the work? does someone
need to apply and get trained? i am seriously concerned that the list will
be small and closed, never grow, and eventually die.
2) just recently there was controversy over a new imc application. the new
imc needed a sponsor and i was going to jump in until some other imc
liasion on the list stepped up to sponsor. both of us were "lurkers". how
do you propose this sort of sponsorship can happen if local imc liasions
are excluded from this process? and how can we have an effective checks and
balances system on who gets accepted and who does not. fyi, i also forwarded
many of the discussions about the editorial policy raised by that
application to our editorial list and we have had discussions about the
issues raised.
this is what i mean when i say this list helps my local imc stay in touch
with evolving philospophy of the network. this list holds tremendous power,
and while i understand not liking the feeling of being on a "stage", i think
the alternative is very dangerous for this network.
