1) your name/nick and email

Anna, anna at mail.nadir.org

2) your location and with which IMC do you work?

berlin, germany.
used to work with imc germany ~2.5 yrs. no local imc, but have worked
with different working groups for more than 4 years now: imc-women,
translation, dispatch, communication mostly. i participated in setting
up the new-imc process but left the group in summer '01 and have
followed it since by talking to people in irc and reading archives.

3) specific roles/tasks you take up in your local collective or tools
you may have developed that might be usefull for broader help/support of
new collectives like facilitating meetings, conflict resolution
procedures, translation teams, feature teams etc...

i have been involved in indymedia network communication for more than 4
years now and so have seen many aspects of imc life from different
angles. i have met many imc groups and activists in europe doing summit
coverage with them mostly, organizing dispatch and general workflows for
media coverage. as a translator i know that not only languages can be
translated but also the way people look at the world - i think this can
help in understanding new imc's. i've done editorial work, have focussed
on outreach and tech/non-tech communication and being inclusive for
people who are not (yet) comfortable with using computers a lot,
especially women. i was involved in setting up the new-imc process way
back when.. and like to find compromises between necessary processes and
structures to make indymedia more transparent on the one hand and
spontaneous and individual initiatives on the other.

4) language(s) you speak?

german (native), english, french
basic understanding of spanish

5) which new collectives have you assisted, you currently assist, or you
are willing to assist in future?

german speaking and eastern european groups

6) what do you see as your contribution to new collectives and the
new-imc working group? General support, special skills, technical
skills, ideas etc?

see 3). part of my idea of being more inclusive is that structures need
to be visible and transparent and open. i'd like to work on that in this
group as well as new groups.

7) Anything else you find important to share with the rest of this
working group

lots ;). in short: i'd like this to be a group that helps new imc's
become part of the network. that's a lot already. i'd prefer if other
things happened somewhere else, and that everybody who has needs for
other things to happen contributed to this happening, but somewhere
else. if only to avoid confusion of new people.

Anna
