[New-imc] BLOCK: non-imc's should not sponsor new collectives

Hello,

This is the most rediculous thing that I have ever heard.

"I hearby block Deja as a sponsor for new imc's"

Get over yourself. Do you really think that you have the autority to
make this decision!?!?
Do you understand consensus process at all? Or is it just petty...

Thats what I thought.

I joined this list in 2001 as a member of the Victoria IMC. I have since
sponsored Thunderbay, Ottawa and Winnapeg IMC's and remain pretty much
the only representative from Canada at the global level of the IMC.
Kamloops is presently working with the Vancouver and Victoria
collectives on the formation of the BC IMC... which is a 'real' IMC
backed by the collectives in Vancouver and Victoria (of which I am still
a member of 'at a distance' assisting with technical and editiorial
work). At present I am sponsoring the application in Edmonton. I know
the organizers there, having worked with them at the G8 in Calgary.
There is no-one else in the network who is able to do the work that I do
with Canadian IMC's. I think that you will find that I have not, and
never would, let my personal opinions regarding the attitude of some of
the members of this list affect my ability to guide new-imc's into the
network. If you take a look at the IMC's that I have brought into the
network you will notice that they all have strong collectives and solid
editorial policys.

There is only one reason that Kamloops withdrew its application, and
that is that Clara does not understand enough English to comprehend the
wording of our editorial policy. Our application was a valid one, this
is obvious as EVERYONE ELSE on this list supported it exept for her. The
application was put on hold to establish a 'cooling off' period before
deciding how to move forward. At that time Clara was, ironically, not a
member of the Netherlands IMC.

It is clear that Clara is not a positive force in this network right
now. She is doing nothing but shooting down peoples ideas in the most
unconstructive language, censoring debate, supporing disaffiliations,
kicking people off of mailing lists and fighting petty battles with
anyone who won't conform to her idea of what the network should be. She
is acting as a divider and not a builder of this network... but like I
need to point that out.

On another note, is this a block, or a proposal? You can't block
something that hasn't been proposed, and as of yet the Edmonton
application is not active on this list. And really, like it is for you
to decide who is 'appropriate' for them as a sponsor. Would anyone else
have been able to put the person who filled out that application in
touch with Waldamir? Do you even know who that is?

Thankfully, it can safely be assumed that this will fade into the
archives like so many other things. I have no doubt that if it does
persist I will have no trouble flooding this list with letters of
support for me and my work with IMC.

But thanks for thinking of me Clara,

(BTW, your sig is a cliche... try *living* it sometime...)
