hi there,
i am jong from manila.indymedia.org and a list member
of new-imc/imc-process.
currently i am volunteering to asisst the new working
group in imc-korea to get into process and be part of
the network. it is my first time to do a voluntary
task in helping other aspiring indymedia group, so i
would like to express my apology if i am not veteran
in this work.
btw, i am aware of the conflict between MEDIAACT and
the current organisers of KoreaIMC. though i am not
really that fully familiar with the ongoing conflict.
but i was just a kinda bothered how mediact can affect
to slow-down the process of autonomous organising of
this imc-korea effort.
i dont know mj from mediact personally, but it seem
like he is hesitant to make imc-korea possible. take a
look at this message from Jino- a korean immigrant in
SFbayarea and also an indymedia activist:
http://lists.indymedia.org/pipermail/imc-korea/2005-January/0128-s6.html
it seem like there was already a conflict ever since,
between mediaAct and autonomous individuals who wanted
to have a new kind of independent media that practices
decentralism and non-hierarchy.
independent media can actually be seen in various
perspectives.
but for us, we clearly understand independent media as
a non-hierarchal/decentralised and autonomous effort.
basically, the conflict between imc-korea working
group and MediaAct is somewhat ideological in some
ways. but if we dwell on ideological conflict, we wont
resolve something.
the current imc-korea working group is the second wave
since the first wave has already been integrated in
various indymedia collectives. the second wave are
composed of koreans and non-koreans who are affiliated
to autonomous activist groups in Seoul. in fact i met
one of them in Tokyo, he's one among the korean
contingent of WRI.
they also been doing outreach effort with Jinbonet and
MediaAct as their hopeful attempt to still make
solidarity possible. but to no avail, it failed:

how are we going to help them?
love over the rainbow,
jong

I realized that there was no halfway house between
non-existence and this flaunting abundance. If you
existed, you had to exist all the way, as far as
mouldness, bloatedness, obscenity were concerned.

=====
"Government means the delegation of power, that is the abdication of initiative and sovereignty of all into the hands of a few; administration means the delegation of work, that is tasks given and received, free exchange of services based on free agreement . . . Let one not confuse the function of government with that of an administration, for they are essentially different, and if today the two are often confused, it is only because of economic and political privilege." - ERRICO MALATESTA [Anarchy, pp. 39-40]
