Subject: [Resolve] NAPNT,
Darwin Indymedia and Gary Meyerhoff - A brief history
Yeah right
For over a year we have simply tried to escape these people.
That's about as far from trying to "dominate" them as you can get...
Bit late with the grand denial/spinfest Meyerhoff
lame and irrelevant mostly
In their own words - Fiona on "domination"

"We are all new at this and darwin indy's beginnings were chaotic. Yes Mick attracts enormous attention and abuse. Darwin is a small town and he has been a lone voice on the indy's, writing about racism and corruption here, since 1999. In 2002 NAP began contributing articles on the NT to indys. Mick wrote many of them, he also got articles up by other groups and individuals here and organised their web presences."
Perth put darwin indy up. Ella was merely a conduit.
We have no problems
with Ella, who has now left the
collective. Russell has also left citing heavy study
commitments. They are welcome back if things change
for them. The "old" collective was essentially a
fait accompli. Hi - we are the collective.
None had ever published an article on an indy.
And they never attended collective meetings, apart
from one appearance by Ella.
Mick's not a rude person. Despite Ella allowing the
darwin site to overflow with ed pol breaching attacks
on him of a highly personal nature, his first act
when he met her was to give her a flower. The only
thing intimidating about him is his energy
and committment. He is very "passionate" :)
All of the collective (6) are autonomist activists.
To suggest Mick is "dominating" us is an unforgivable
insult."
by Fiona
("unforgivable" - Stacy)
________
more?
"I met the Belyuen Aboriginal people and was overwhelmed by their friendliness and their obvious love for Mick."
-----------------------------
"All of the collective have similar autonomist/activist
backgrounds. So no more insults about Mick's "domination" please."
"There are very few people with web skills 'and' political interests
(in the whole NT) and Mick is the one pushing for sub-collectives
and more involvement from others."

As always - (mick's) recruited most of our members
Also -
"I agree with the editorial policy as it is at the
moment on the darwin indy site (with relevant name
changes) and I fully support all of the actions taken
so far by Mick Lambe."
Gary Meyerhoff
Darwin
-------------------------------
We can't work with people we don't trust, who call the cops as heavies cos someone has had enough of being exploited (me) - and support police campaigns.
Who just lie and lie and lie...
We have a credible collective because they know NAP and they know me. Why our proposals were unanimous
Darwin IndyMedia Collective Minutes
18th February 2006 - 2.30pm - One Mile Dam Aboriginal community
Present - Mindy, David, Mick, Noodle, Jim, Vikki
Apologies - Justin, Therese, Karen
David Timber welcomed us all to Aboriginal land, One Mile Dam community.
Sang Happy Birthday to David, Jim accompanied us on bluesharp.
___________________________
New members (after intros and discussion) - accepted unanimously. Noodle, Jim, Vikki - Karen had a previous event to attend.
It was decided to let David explain the past events that led to the DIMC losing its indymedia url. Questions were asked to clarify events. The expelled people are known to the new members.
A motion on the legitimacy of the DIMC's decisions to expel Inder-Smith, Meyerhoff, Fiona and Viki, was unanimous in supporting the expulsions.
A motion that other collectives respect the DIMC's automony and return the DIMC's darwin.indymedia.org/ url was also supported unanimously.
-------------------------------------------
We agreed we needed more local stories and had some discussion on the growing harassment of Aboriginal people in Darwin, (beatings, missiles from cars, etc...) the loss of the Community patrols and a host of other local issues.
Meeting closed - 4-00pm

Another woman wants to join our collective - and not one person in the NT has complained about the expulsions.
None of our collective would understand how anyone could dominate anything. It's an open-publishing site - people just put stuff up. The problem control freaks have - is they think everyone thinks the way they do.
We had no choice but to expel Meyerhoff and Inder-Smith who our collective at the time (which included Viki and Fiona) wouldn't associate with for 6 months.
Fiona's lie that I "concocted" Meyerhoff's 'supposed crimes" was what started this attack on our credibility.
Our collective was vindicated when the handwritten minutes were found. We told the truth.
Meyerhoff also played the 'exploited blacks race card' (appeals to most White Australians faced with unpleasant truths) so we had to get the message out in a 'physical' manner. Still no-one listened to us. Not fair - perth adelaide and bits of melb did...
The racist paternalism inherent in Meyerhoff's world-view which sees Aboriginal people as "manipulated" when they speak out - is to be expected. Anything to cause us harm.
The racist crap the DIMC wore on the supposedly progressive sydney imc site was disgusting. Ugly enraging stuff.
Meyerhoff's predilection for bringing up evidence that places him in an unfavourable light was one of the many reasons I quit as NAP's main legal defender. Make the Prosecutor work I say.
I could dispute every point Meyerhoff makes (I won't bother with most) - usually using his own words. Or Fiona's -
"Calling the cops cos Mick's walking out on NAP psychodrama..." (psydrama 54865-7a)

"Recent events have convinced me I must say something re Rob Inder-Smith.
I seconded him to the AIVL e-list at Gary's request despite disliking the man intensely. But having discovered he is a police informer I feel I must warn others on the list.
He called the police after Gary asked him to in an attempt to intimidate a friend who was moving out of the NAP/TUF house.
I must state that at no time was Gary or Rob in danger from this man. In fact, they were the ones doing the threatening.
Due to a personality clash my friend was moving out. I assured Gary there were no problems and that he would be out that day.
Previously Gary had told me that he was going to get some blokes to "do over" my friend and/or he would call the police. He also told another TUF committee member that he intended to call the police.
Gary had called Inder-Smith to come round in an attempt to intimidate my friend.
While my friend was moving his stuff into his car, under the watchful eye of the NT police, Inder-Smith was taunting my friend. He's a gutless pig.
Fortunately, the police didn't search my friend as he had green matter on him somewhere. I must also point
I was there for the whole scenario and have avoided Gary and Rob since (therefore not being involved in TUF although I am secretary) as I don't trust dogs.
Whatever spin (lies) Gary comes up with now are irrelevant. The fact is (he) called the police after threatening this man."

I'm just not interested in Meyerhoff's/Stuart Highway's outright lies and their avoidance of the eternal psychodrama - that was the NAP house.
And the playground tit-for-tat stuff bores me.
So I wasn't arrested one night - so what? etc, etc...
I'm not really taken with Meyerhoff's 'point' - is there one?
Most of this spiel (or "spruiking" as Meyerhoff calls it) makes little sense.
Or is contradictory. Or totally shorn of context.
I don't hurt people - I defend people
I certainly don't stalk, threaten and assault people at their homes.
That's just fucking weird.

"Now the drug trade is firmly in the hands of the hells angels and the nt police" (Gary Meyerhoff) - http://dimc.axxs.org/index.php?action=default&featureview=93
by Fiona (prior to letting personal issues overtake her good sense)
- "NAP claim to work with Aboriginal communities in one of their propaganda/donation articles."
NAP - "On a local level, we work closely with the Top End's indigenous communities and with local independent media."
http://dimc.axxs.org/index.php?action=newswire&parentview=3297
Which one? Gary's been at One Mile Dam twice in how many years? He lives 15 minutes away. What a load of crap. I approached Gary to do work at a community (15 mile) another one Gary has never been to - Mick has mob there.
Gary didn't want me to go to the Health&Women's meeting. When I insisted he said to keep NAP and TUF's name out of it.
NAP moved the Baxter Convergence post and others to give their spin and donation propaganda room.
Gary & Rob are full of it - sexist and racist creeps.
They are no loss to DIM or activists actually doing something."
