Introductory statement

Indymedia Venezuela

Why?

At the present time, in the social construction process that we are
living, it becomes necessary an indymedia creation in order to
critically contribute to social, politic and economic struggle without
power interests. Principally, It is necessary its creation for
communicating from here to the world what it is happening day by day
so that it could be possible to break the
and falseness that the empire has imposed with its giants
transnational of communication.

As Social Movements we need open publication Medias, which can permit
us access to all the information that it is happening in the
communities related to rural, indigenous, worker, student, ecologist,
sexual diversity, feminist, cultural and urban cause, among others.

What for?

CMI Venezuela was constituted to strengthen popular and autonomous
organization within horizontal communication, in order to stimulate
the collective and critic conscience development,
self- taught and popular education. Promoting cultural and historic
meetings among people from diverse sources and contexts just as social
interaction to collectivize human communication as well to guarantee
equal inclusion; in the same way in order to facilitate
juncture and mobilization of the people's liberation struggle.

Because through Indymedia network we can unificate a great number of
social organizations connected in the libertarian struggle, because we
are many who want to scream to the world, besides there is a lot of
people who wanted to be heard. Unity among organizations is essential
to face any fight. Indymedia will permit the union of many social
movements or individuals of
Venezuela and the rest of the world

Indymedia Venezuela ---principles

Understanding reality as an element that changes through history,
Indymedia Venezuela is open to any change possibility in agreement to
people's necessity. That is why we give the following criteria

Chairpersons can
"hide" articles that violate our article criteria, listed below:

 - It is not acceptable
articles which discriminate people according to their race, gender,
age, class, religion, culture, sexual preference or physical condition

-
It is not acceptable articles that contain electoral propaganda,
slogans of political parties or advertisement. Without exceptions of
any news or information generate by political parties, organization,
or social collectives.

- Articles posted in other Medias which are not alternatives and
community won't be published. (Indymedia intend to be a platform to
publish authentic articles. That is why we ask people to publish
articles made by themselves, besides, it is possible to add comments
and links related to the content of the article.

-It is acceptable, articles of any kind (news, opinion, history, analysis)

IMC CRITERIA*

Articles can be published (with updates, aggregations corrections) as
an editorial only if…

-Articles are in accordance with the general publishing criteria
 - Have been approved by editorial list

- Have national relevance.
-Are true in order to guarantee the responsibility of expressed opinions

*The Center Column is the place for editorial Articles

Decision making

* Decisions are made by consensus. If consensus didn't happen,
Decision will be democratically made by the majority.

* Decisions about statutes (principles, editorial policy, decision
making…) must be realized by consensus in national meetings. Statutes
won't change if consensus can not be reached.

* Ordinary meetings has place each four months in different venues (at
least in the first year) Indymedia meetings are open to everyone who
is agree with indymedia-Venezuela principles.
* Special meetings could be proposed by means of mail list by
collectives or individuals. Through this, the place and date for
meetings can be settled, and after that, it will be notified publicly.

EDITORIAL LINE/POLICY

*Editorial groups will be constituted in different regions. Every two
or one week (according to the number of participant collectives) one
of the editorial groups will assume the editorial line of the entire
CMI.

* People can published openly and everybody (either collective in
charge or others) have the opportunity of propose articles (according
to general criteria and principles) as editorial in the intern mail
list.

* Editorial will be published. If there are three approvals or there
is not contradiction in 24 hours, although, if there is contradiction
during the 24 hours, decisions will be analyzed and there will be a
debate by the list in order to decide about it.

-- In juncture situations, autonomy is conserved for editorial
regional groups. In this case is necessary to justify decisions made
in the mail list and assume their responsibility.

 *Please
 write
an introduction about why do you want to participate in the indymedia network*
In the process of social construction that we are living actually in
our country it make necessary the creation of an indymedia that
contribute with critical focus to social, political and economic
struggle without to be due to power interests. Its creation is
overcoat necessary to diffuse and inform from the country to the world
the events provoked day by day and like this break with the media
circle and the lie that the empire imposes from their big
transnational of communication.

The socials movements need some medias of open publication, that
permit the access to the information that is happening in the
peasants, indigenous, ecologists, workers, of sexual diversity,
students, feminists, cultural and urban among others.

*with what kind of resources can you contribute, in term of
servant/ADSL/organisational and techniques abilities?*

We can't contribute with technique infrastructure. Maybe it would be
possible to install a servant for the global network. We rely on
alternative, communitarian and free Medias and humans resources in
various areas.

*which activities of reach to the community have you make to contact a
divers group of people?*

Public meetings in various communities of Caracas and Valencia
(announced by emails, web sites, flyers, communitarian Medias and oral
form). Publication workshops in indymedia platform during nationals
and regional ANMCLA meetings (published in the special
Venezuela coverage in indymedia Puerto Rico).

*How reflect the composition of your group the diversity of the local
community (for example concerning cultural, genre, sexual, spiritual
identity)? *

We reflect a big cultural diversity because the collective is
conforming by members of various origins and regions.
However, at the moments in the group there is a majority of men.

*If your group doesn't actually represent the diversity of the local
community, especially in relation to groups that are not represented
as they should in the conventional society and who get the access to
vehicles of expression refused, which way will you use to resolve
this?

The collective is open for peoples of others genres. To fortify this
we will get make contacts with collectives (virtual or not) of
feminists and of sexual diversity and ethnic.

* Which ways will you use to involve persons in topic that are new for
them? Which steps will you take to surmount the division of work by
genres? *

Join efforts of apprenticeship in popular education, which permits
the collective elaboration of discussions, formations agenda and
revolutionary praxis.

To agree on the daily and on the moment, participation and action
forms of horizontal characters, without hierarchy nor privileges of
neither nature
