I have reworded the introductory statement. Here are my suggested
changes, and i object to the current wording. The quantum physics of it
is not to my liking. It focussed on what we don't want to create rather
than what we are seeking to create, as you can see in my wording
changes. They say the same thing, but instead talks about what we are
creating, not what we don't want in our society.
Suggested full text of Introductory Statement:
Sarasota Indymedia has formed to create an alternative, uncensored,
not-for-profit and community-based source of news that is unfilted by
corporate and authoritarian interests in this nation. Sarasota
Indymedia seeks to increase solidary, connectivity, and communication
through an uncensored media network of grassroots community activists.
Sarasota Indymedia will be a principled alternative free from the bias
and lack of objectivity that the existing corporate news structures
exhibit. Sarasota Indymedia feels that participation in Indymedia would
be the best way that we can achieve our goals and participate in the
global struggle for truth and social justice.
Existing Introductory Statement:
Like people all over the world, we in Sarasota are getting tired of
corporations and other authoritarian institutions filtering the
stories and events that affect our lives (Sarasota Indymedia has formed
to create an alternative, uncensored, not-for-profit and community-based
source of news that is unfilted by corporate and authoritarian interests
in this nation.). We are also tired of the
fragmentation and lack of communication that exists between the
various elements in our community that are striving to create a
positive change (Sarasota Indymedia seeks to increase solidary,
connectivity, and communication through an uncensored media network of
grassroots community activists.). We want to participate in the
Indymedia Network in
order to combat these two problems, so that we can create an,
indpendent community-based media outlet (Sarasota Indymedia will be a
principled alternative free from the bias and lack of objectivity that
the existing corporate news structures exhibit). We feel that
participation in
Indymedia would be the best way that we can achieve our goals and
participate in the global struggle (for truth and social justice).
