Well, as far as I know, when we put in our application for Imc Scotland via
filling in the form we got send automatically a password/number for
contact.indymedia.org, but it is only restricted to the imc you actually
apply for. And it might also only be sent to one person.
The trouble was finding this password later again when getting approved some
weeks/months later or when moving servers or so, especially some years later.
But I think all it actually does is pointing the domain name to the server?
So basically, I think one of the main problems of new IMCs is to have a
server, have a person with server admin knowledge and enough priviledges on
these servers and having the one and only person who has got the password or
number actually knowing what to do with it.
So therefore I do think superadmins actually need to know what they are doing
and not just get access because they have lost the password or collective has
split or they don't talk anymore to the person who initially got it, or the
person who got it doesn't know what to do with it.
And so far I was of the impression that every IMC was itself responsible for
maintaining its entry to the city admin list and also to rss its features
into the right hand newswire on global.
The whole superuser stuff is new to me, too.
