Are you saying that new-imc has decided that new-imc are (exclusively)
going to upgrade the cities list on contact.indymedia.org in the future?

I imagine IMC Commwork would appreciate this. However, it should be
noted that having a superuser account (so you can edit other IMCs) also
comes with a certain degree of responsibility (and new-imcers already
have a lot), and the more superuser accounts are there the higher is the
chance one of their passwords is leaked.

For the purpose of our information, can you point us to the public
mailing list archives where new-imc's discussion on such matters has
taken place and the decision was taken?

I am not (at all) trying to prevent this from happening, and am
personally in favor of making it happen (less work for us), but am
trying to ensure that all aspects of this decision (to make all new-imc
volunteers contact DB superusers) have been considered.

In my understanding, all New-IMC volunteers are supposed to have one
created for them as part of them joining new-imc. Is there a way we can
send you the password in some encrypted way? PGP/OpenPGP/GnuPG or IRC on
irc.indymedia.org (using SSL on port 6697) normally work well.

Every superuser on contact.indymedia.org can setup new IMCs. Some
new-imc volunteers already have superuser accounts.
