[New-imc] [IMC-Tech] State of the nation - 25% of indymedia sites are dead

Hi all,
If some sites are going to be 'stored', I would suggest to make a
static copy of these sites, so, abandon the current php+mysql //
java+mysql software and make a static html copy with wget or simmilar.
Then, by pointing the sites to the static copies, we will save
server resources and ensure no abuse/crack can be performed on these
'static mirrors' and we would be free to check if those sites are
working or not after a system update.
Then we can keep these sites linked in a 'archive' section as mumu
proposed and never mind about their maintenance anymore.
About the DoS attack against Paris, we can use a simmilar strategy
to push down the CPU usage: serve paris' website 'internally' in their
server and configure a reverse proxy between the site and the Internet,
configuring the proxy not to refresh dynamic content on demand but with
a 'grace time', sort of 15 or 30 minutes will be fine, if attack is
still harmful, just increase this value :D
Cheers!
Kenneth
