Thank you Ekes,
You added some very useful concerns and suggestions.
Your orientation can point to directions in which we might be able to
expand or improve the quality of indymedia work.
If you can prepare a clearly written statement on that, or if you are
aware of one that exists already, we can ask newly formed imc groups (or
any imc groups) to include that type of information for their visitors,
readers, authors, etc. Especially for qualified bona-fide
whistle-blowers, that kind of information is crucial.
But we need to be able to qualify, to identify, that there are many
layers and degrees of protection, anonymity, security, providing visible
or invisible presence on the internet. I especially agree with you that
for the average user, these concepts are not familiar, and we need to be
able to distinguish between simple pen-names, pseudonyms, untraceable
emails, untraceable surfing, etc. Most people need very little of that,
while those who have special needs can be well served by your proposal.
But in the meantime, I believe we should give to New Victoria imc the
green light to have the DNS change so that the subdomain
http://victoria.indymedia.org/
will point to
http://www.vicindymedia.org/
Are there any disagreements to that?
Thanks,
Petros
