introductory_statement:
We are a group of independent activists fighting for social and political freedom in authoritarian Singapore. 

By 1987, all independent press in Singapore was shut down by the government and now all our local media is controlled by the state which censors and manipulates news for it's own interests.

Indymedia activists from Jakarta and Manila have recommended us to set up an Indymedia Centre in Singapore to create an alternative to the state's media monopoly.

We believe that joining the Indymedia Network will greatly help us achieve our goal.

We have been going around local activist circles for more than 3 months to gather people to work on a Singapore IMC together.
