IMC was founded by a collective of people acting independent of institutionalized political organizations, who support self-organization and conscious participation, and take a stand against hierarchies, the market and all those conditions that bring discrimination, inequality and oppression. 
Indymedia Sardinia's activists believe that in order to be as widely representative as possible, it is necessary to involve as many activists as possible at the local level. To do so, we intend to use all the available channels, ranging from direct acquaintance and web dissemination to local conferences. The collective can rely on the direct experience of the founders of the first Sardinia Indymedia, which was then closed down. None of the Sardinian IMC's members is affiliated to any political party

introductory_statement:
IMC Sardinia stems from two needs: long-term coordination of the various local collectives working for regional causes, and short-term management of national and international communication for the G8 summit that will probably take place in Sardinia in 2009. For this latter reason, we believe it is particularly crucial to integrate our local IMC into the International Indymedia Network.

We are convinced that in order to gain access to free knowledge, free tools should be used. We are also committed to technology development, reuse of hardware and software to disseminate knowledge, free ourselves from consumeristic approach, and recycle objects otherwise considered polluting wastes.

-	organize regular open meetings; 
-	promote everyone's participation, i.e. not preventing anyone from taking part in lists and meetings.

Sardinian Indymedia's IMC opposes a society that produces inequalities, marginalization and discrimination. We work to develop solidarity among human beings, respect for differences and to overcome this class-based society. Therefore, we are open to experiences and experiments able to break any dynamics of exclusion. Sardinian context is cultural-specific and will be dealt with special regard and attention.

Participation in IMC Sardinia is always to be considered on a personal basis and decisions will be taken by those activists who take part in the debate and give their personal contribution to it. One or more members of the Indymedia Sardinia's group will participate in the global decision-making process as a rotating liaison/representative and with a clear understanding of the responsibilities that come with this role. We will pay the highest attention to avoid that this role be played by only a few people and that the highest number of activists be involved in the relations with the other Indymedia groups and in all work inside the Indymedia Sardinia group.
