introductory_statement:
I teach at a local state college, i handle communication and language courses in the province. Since 2004, I have been involved with the establishing of the local IMC in our country, it developed into manila.indymedia.org five years later. I wanted to appropriate the same technology and resources in our own context, more than ten years ago our province suffered a big blow when the transnational mining company spilled over deliberately poisonous mine tailings in our main river which is one of the chief livelihood in our province. I wanted to offer the venue of a local IMC to raise the consciousness and concern of our people and link it up to other networks.

Since  i have a solid background in dealing with local IMCs since I was and still part of the Manila editorial collective and working group, and i am currently involved in our school I could organize within and without the school. In our school, there are computer laboratories which the students could access the internet and use computers. I think with minimal skills and passion for telling local stories, we could come up with a baseline collective primarily composed of students and some faculty members who are also engaged especially with environmental concerns. 

outreach:
Aside from teaching, I also hold a local designation. I am the head of teh Knowledge Information Management Systems who is in charge of documenting and covering school events and producing audio-visual materials for the school. Since our school is also a state college, it is engaged and mandated to have a research and extension function. I think we could very well coordinated the coverage of local events even outside of our school premises 

identity_makeup:
Although, most of students are from the social groupings which are sons and daughters of fisherfolks and farmers, some laborers and employees, they have quite a diverse interests. We hope to engage also the local communities where they belong since our school is the biggest higher learning institution in the province, it serves all the towns and communities throughout the province.

steps_represent_diversity:
This is the primary reason why we wanted to make use of the internet medium and other multimedia which are ready to our disposal to voice out our concerns, issues and stories. We wanted to participate not only with our local concerns but also reach out to a wider and far reaching issues which affect us in a way or another. We are aware that the globe is getting too small for all the people around it.

steps_involve_new_workfields:
Aside from discussions in the classroom settings, we are also planning to conduct seminars, workshop and orientation as a part of our extension program. We are on the process of coming up with concrete plans of organizing in our own local communities. But we need badly a venue which we could show our fellow in our province.
