The region that the proposed Northern England IMC covers,
the North of England [1] includes the urban areas around
Sheffield, Manchester and Liverpool, which have a combined
population of over 3.5 million and which are covered by 3
regional IMC UK sites:

There has however been almost no attempt from the Northern
IMC activists at having any dialoge with or involvement
from existing Indymedia activists from these cities, in
fact the Northern IMC has been using outreach material
which some have considered to be hostile towards UK
Indymedia [2].

There has been some discussion about this on UK lists [3]
but there doesn't appear to be a consensus, at this stage,
about the way forwards, several activists have suggested
that a UK IMC network meeting is needed.
