Greetings IMC Cairo
I'm Jimdog from the new-imc working group. I will offer to help for the
best of my abilities for you to get through this stage of the new-imc
process. I'm afraid my only language is English and understand that this
might not be ideal, but if this is not a barrier please indicate that
you are happy for me to take on a liaison role for you.
I understand you have been working on this for some time now, and that
you have a need for things to progress quickly due to the situation on
the ground. There are a few steps that need to be completed here, then
if everything is in order we will first send your proposal to the
new-imc list to allow for further input from members of the working
group. If none is forthcoming, we will need to translate your form into
at least 2 languages (English, Spanish or German and at least one other)
then send the form to the imc-process list to allow all affiliated
collectives to review your application. If no objections are made there
then you will become an affiliated member of the global IMC Network
So, there are a few things we will need to see. We will need a positive
indication from your group that you have read through and agree to the
documents at:
https://docs.indymedia.org/Global/NewImcHowTo
https://docs.indymedia.org/Global/MembershipCriteria
And also, we will need a positive indication from your group that you
have read through and agree to abide by the principles of Unity, that
all IMC's worldwide agree to abide by
https://docs.indymedia.org/Global/PrinciplesOfUnity
This indication can be in the form of a collectively written email by
your group to this list.
We will need you to draft a Mission Statement for your group, which
should appear on your website when you have set it up. This is your
chance to say to the global community and your site users who you are,
what you stand for and why you are doing what you are doing.
Finally we will need you to write up a set of Editorial Guidelines that
you will be using when you have your site up and running. All Indymedia
sites have both of these items on their sites and so I would recommend
having a look through some of the links on the cities list to get an
idea how others have approached this.
I hope to hear back from your group soon and wish you all the best
