Indybay Orientation and Meeting, 3pm on Saturday 4/21 in the AK Press
Building, 674 23rd St., Oakland, CA

Are you sick of the corporate media's coverage of issues and events that
are important to you? Do you want to use the media to help get the
message out the right way? Do you want to collaborate with other people
to "make media, make trouble?" Come on out to our meeting after your
local Earth Day events!

Indybay is planning a summer roadshow to promote the site's regional news
pages. Do you want to help to get more news from the South Bay,
Peninsula, North Bay, North Coast, or other regions covered on the site?
Come on out to this Saturday's meeting!

Learn more about the Indymedia network and how you can help our local Bay
Area site continue to be the useful project that it is. Indybay can use
help with the site itself, from posting to editing, to tasks like
organizing events and so forth.

At the orientation, we will explain what Indybay is all about. If you
would like to get involved, at any level, come by and find out more!
Regarding the site, we'll talk about how to post news, photos, video and
audio. We'll discuss things that go on behind the scenes like what happens
once something is posted to the newswire. We'll share with you how stories
get made into center column features and what types of editorial decisions
are made regarding features, posts, and comments. We welcome you to ask
questions about your areas of interest in helping with the site or Indybay
in general.

Indybay's points of unity state that we are "anti-capitalist" and
"anti-oppression." If these values are in line with your own, you find
that the subject matter covered in the center columns of the website tends
to agree with your own politics, and maybe you are especially interested
in one (or more) feature page, you're invited to come to this orientation.
