SF BAY AREA REPORTS FROM SCOTLAND
Confronting the G8
Several Indybay reporters and Bay Area activists are reporting from the G8 protest in Scotland this week.
After the bombings in London the morning of 7/7, a Vigil Against War and Bombings was held in Edinburgh. Also, activists were gearing up for a demonstration on July 8th in support of Maryam Rajavi, a fighter in the Iranian Resistance Movement, who has come under heavy repression in France.

4 BOMBS ROCK LONDON: SCORES DEAD, HUNDREDS HURT
Current reports of 50 dead and over 700 injured in London blasts
As the subway lines are now re-opened and London attempts a return to normalcy, authorities are reporting that 50 people are confirmed dead in the bomb attacks, with at least 10 more expected to be found as they search through the rubble in the subway system. The number killed on the double-decker bus has been reported as thirteen. Investigators at this point believe each bomb weighed less than 10 pounds and could have fit into a backpack. The preliminary presumption regarding responsibility is that the bombers were part of an al Qaida cell but no further information about possible perpetrators is available. The significance and meaning of the attack is being debated on Indybay and across the media.

DOH, BAAAARRRT!
Bart's a mess, but don't blame the workers
Although a BART strike was averted by a last minute agreement and a new contract, there is still much commuter dissatisfaction with the Bay Area's largest transit system.

BOYCOTT GALLO WINE
Support Farm Workers
The United Farm Workers union is "inviting people of good will" to join their second boycott of Gallo wine in 32 years. Hundreds of farm workers and supporters kicked off a new international boycott of Gallo wine on June 14. They are in a struggle to convince America's wealthiest wine making family to do the responsible thing by stopping the exploitation of their workers. The Gallos deny the majority of their farm workers benefits and grievance rights. The UFW says the Gallos abuse, cheat and deny these workers benefits, job protections and humane living conditions in the heart of California's fabled wine country.
