CALL FOR ENTRIES

Festival Summary:  The borderland film festival presents a variety of
independent art and film of various genres that focus on different
manifestations of life in the Mexico/U.S. border region such as
immigration, labor issues and cultural movements in the region.  The
festival shows the border through the eyes of the people who live in the
border region or have experienced “the border” in one way or another. 
Furthermore, there is an emphasis on the individual and communal border
identity that illustrates the trans-cultural features that adapt, enrich
and renew on a daily basis.  This is a multidisciplinary event that
includes all artistic expression:  film, visual art, instillation, music,
performance art, poetry, etc.
Deadline for entries:  December 1st (early entries will receive priority
consideration)
No entry fee.  The festival is not competitive.
All entries that deal with one or more of the themes mentioned above will
be considered.

Submission:
Film:  Please send a VHS or DVD copy of the work you want to submit, the
technical features, a synopsis of the work, a brief resume that includes
your personal information, email, telephone number, address, etc.
Entries will not be returned.  You will be notified via email regarding
your submission.

The festival is brought to you by the Borderland Collective  which is a
small group of community activists and artists from diverse communities
who are dedicated to bringing the issues of the border to the public.

Convocatoria

Resumen del festival:  El festival  presenta una variedad de películas y
arte independiente de diversos géneros que ilustran las diferentes
manifestaciones socio culturales de la vida en la región fronteriza de
México y EE.UU. Se tocan temas como la migración, los problemas laborales
y los movimientos culturales de la frontera norte..  El festival  muestra
la frontera a través de los ojos de la gente que vive en esta región o que
ha vivido “la frontera” de una manera u otra.  Además, hay un enfoque en
la identidad individual y comunal de la frontera; monstrando las
características transculturales que se adaptan, se enriquecen y se
regeneran diariamente.  Este es un evento multidiciplinario que incluye
todas las expreciones artisticas: peliculas, arte visual, instalación,
música, performance art, poesia, ecetera.

Fecha límite: 1 de diciembre (los trabajos que llegan antes recibirán
prioridad)
No se cobra inscripción.  El festival no es competitivo.
Todas las obras recibidas que traten por lo menos uno de los temas
mencionados serán consideradas para el festival.

Envio de obras:
Peliculas:  Manden una o dos copias en formato DVD o VHS (de preferencia
DVD), con las fichas técnicas, un synopsis del trabajo, un curriculum
breve que incluya tu información personal, correo electronico, teléfono,
dirrección, etcetera.
No devolveremos las obras.  Recibirás por correo electrónico tu admisión
al festival.
