A LION IN THE HOUSE offers an unprecedented look at the cancer journeys of five young people and their families over a six-year period. Award-winning filmmakers Steven Bognar and Julia Reichert bring audiences face to face with the uncertainty of the entire cancer experience and its rippling effects on family, community and professional caregivers. At the core of A LION IN THE HOUSE is the resilience, courage and wisdom of five extraordinary young people.

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Berkeley Community Media, the public access cable television organization for the City of Berkeley, CA, is currently accepting applications for the following position.
Programming Coordinator
Hours: 40 hours a week scheduled by the Executive Director, may include nights and Saturdays.
Salary: $32,000-35,000 DOE with benefits.
Summary: The Programming Coordinator is responsible for the operations of the community access TV channels head-end including on-air scheduling, media traffic and data entry. Assists with publicity, outreach, training, facility operations & program guide. Reports to the Executive Director.
Duties/Responsibilities:
¨ Executes and develops daily programming procedures including troubleshooting and problem solving when necessary.
¨ Programs automated head-end system and monitors on-air programming on an hourly basis.
¨ Manages tape traffic flow and cablecast requests including governmental & educational program scheduling. Maintains database and electronic Government Bulletin Board.
¨ Researches Programming sources and develops relationships with providers.
¨ Trains and supervises interns and volunteers. May also teach workshops.
¨ Assists as needed with special projects.
¨ Maintains statistical information related to programming.
¨ Manages public listings of on-air schedule and press releases for special events.
¨ Mentors community members in the production of their programs, including public relations and outreach.
¨ Nurtures a healthy team environment.
Minimum Requirements:
¨ Excellent computer skills including experience with Windows/Macintosh compatible computer systems and some simple graphics experience preferred.
¨ Excellent organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks in a busy environment.
¨ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, detail oriented and flexible.
¨ Strong interest in and basic knowledge of non-profit media arts or community television.
¨ Able to implement creative vision through excellent people skills and enthusiasm.
¨ Basic technical knowledge and experience with video required.
