:
: cool. whaich policy are you referring to? selinux? or a general
: sysadmin/hosting policy?
An SELinux policy. At this point, our general hosting policy is a 'fly by
the seat of your pants'-type situation. i.e. If any one of us is asked to
do something, we ask the other two if it's okay.
: > Correct. I haven't offered any yet.
:
: oops, i guess i have mixed things up. talking with three people about
: the same subject seems to be too much for my brains. ;)
:) It happens. There's lots to be confused about in indymedia-land.

:
: well, httpS would be really nice, but i'm sure we could achieve that.
I'm working on getting assured through the CACert process, so certificates
would have a two-year lifespan (instead of six months). It's pretty simple.

:
: a bit of a slow cpu. SMP? what else will be running on it?
Yep, the CPU is pretty slow. Like I said, I'm looking at donating an
upgrade. It's just a matter of what we upgrade to...
The only other thing that's running on it is everything involved with the
IMC Ontario process. That is: Apache (with various modules), MySQL, and a
few custom (and low-CPU) cron processes/daemons.
: > I believe it's running MySQL 3.23.
:
: Any chance to have that upgraded to 4.x? That's one of the requirements.
Actually, check on that: I'm pretty sure it /is/ running 4.x. And if it's
not, it's an upgrade I'd like to do, anyhow.
So the answer to your question: If it's not already running 4.x, then most
definitely 'Yes'.

:
: ok, cool
I've now joined #tech. I'm open to joining other rooms, but haven't yet
looked at any. You can reach me as 'bleb' in IRC.
: Thanks for your answers and sorry for the short reply, got 170 more
: emails to go...
:)
No problem. I'm wading through wads myself.
