there has been discussion about getting a database server to support traven for
sometime now, and the discussions could probably continue for a while, before we
move on to discuss further hardware. so, as an interim proposal, based on this

If you wanted to use one of the machines that Elijah listed, they are
available and could be sufficient for your needs. If it is determined
that whatever machine you are using is under-powered for your needs you
could purchase something else to replace it.

i'd like to propose that uk indymedia take on one of the machines available at
riseup to use as a database server to support traven. i suggest we offer to
double our current monthly payment (40 quid, approx $70) to help the colo as per
their suggested donations and to contribute something for the box. this
money would come from the server fund.
proposal deadline for discussion: 31 december 2005
it would also be nice to contribute a bit more, in recognition of the loan. my
idea is that, if people feel that it's the memory which is the bottleneck with
the database server, we should offer to buy some more memory as a donation
towards the hardware. what do people think about this?
love and solidarity,
