Cheers all,
this is my first ever post to this list. I hope it's not out of line.

As some of you may know, many activists from the Montreal/Ottawa region,
as well as allies from all over Canada and some from the US, are currently
organising a one week march from Montreal to Ottawa, from June 18 to 25,
to demand full regularisation for some 200 000 non-status migrants,
immigrants and refugees in Canada.
The Solidarity Across Borders coalition also demands an end to
deportations and arbitrary detentions as well as the abolition of the
dreaded "Security Certificates" measure, which allows the Canadian
government to keep Muslim and Arab people in prison on simple suspicion,
without trial, and on the basis of secret evidence.
We hope this action will greatly raise popular awareness about the
horrible situations immigrants and refuggees are facing, in Canada and
elsewhere, firstly when they are waiting in limbo for a "legal" status,
and then after, as they are being denied by racist immigration officers
and exploited as sub-citizens.
Quebec.Indymedia is going to put up a feature, which we are going to
update regularily all through the week, mainly with audio stuff and
pictures as well as reports from the march itself.
By now, you will have guessed that both the quebec.imc collective and the
Solidarity Across Borders would appreciate a headlines feature on the
Global Imc site.
The local feature will likely be ready some time next week in English,
French and Spanish.
In the meantime, would it be possible to post an annoucement to the events
block on the upper right?
How does that come about?

Please check out the SAB site at
http://www.solidarityacrossborders.org/march_en/home_march_en.html
I hope that the locals IMC can cover the march as well. It's going to kick
some ass!
In solidarity,

PatC.
