Thanks Rona, for looking to improve our coverage.

You're absolutely right, the valiant and honourable Israeli opposition 
to the war is under-reported in the world, censored and hidden by 
Corporate and State media, and even within imc we never give it enough 
representation.

Only people who are there in Israel and involved directly with it can 
give us a thorough account; it'd be great to have an overview, or even 
an in-depth presentation if your time permits.

Many layers of Israeli Jewish society oppose the war - this particular 
one, and also the general war against the Arab and Moslem people.

Israeli opposition to the war brings together many immportant elements 
of society ranging from Orthodox Rabbis who oppose Zionism to military 
resisters, it includes all of the Socialist, Communist and Anarchist 
organizations, and has broad appeal even among large numbers of people 
who might be labelled "liberal". There are even Zionists who oppose this 
particular phase of the war, because to them it weakens Israel to keep 
going from one military adventure to another in endless war withour 
objectives.

All of this is *crucial* to the global solidarity movement!

Because the vocal and active opposition of Israeli Jewish people 
restores the moral balance in the conflict, it defuses and disarms the 
lies and propaganda of the warmakers in Tel Aviv and Washington DC, and 
it restores the foundations for trust and Peace between all of the 
peoples of the Middle East.

In this spirit, I really like the statement by Zikit, active member of 
the Israel imc editorial group, who wrote that "The only solution in my 
mind is ...putting an end to the occupation, and stopping the siege 
(military, economically and diplomatically) on Gaza. That's the only way 
to secure people, be they palestinians, israelies, jews or arabs." He 
wrote that this would involve "a complete stop ...of guerilla terror as 
much as state terror ...[at] the source]":

It would be great, as Sue suggested, if you all can spare some time to 
produce a Feature on all aspects of Israeli opposition to the war. It 
could include actions, events, statements, positions, polls, etc.

That opposition is a key consisting of morality in action and political 
principles that can bolster and empower the regional and global Peace 
movement immensely.
