hi,

there have been a few requests recently to hide posts on the global newswire.
unfortunately, despite them being "unpublished"/hidden in the database, the
posts still continue to show on the newswire. this is a technical problem: it is
because the website is served off mirrors around the world (one of the reasons
that mir is such a stable code base), rather than the server where people
actually publish stuff (and where the admins can interact with the database).

the problem is that when the webpages are synched across to the mirrors, only
the additional changes are synched, and not pages that have been removed.
instead, teh individual mirror admins will need to make those changes on a per
mirror basis. i do not know who the current mirror admins are, although 2 are
listed in the dns, and thus i have no way of getting in touch with them. does
anyone know? are they on the www-tech list?
